Easy Meditation Techniques




Most easy meditation techniques are vehicles for getting in touch with the "inner you." Simply put, they are ways to eliminate the noisey mind-chatter that is our minds just rolling on and on.

Not that this chatter is necessarily unimportant, it is what sets us humans apart from the rest of the animal kingdom. It is our thinking that figures things out. We think in words. That's the ego talking.

But there is a deeper inner person in all of us. Beneath our chattering minds is us. The real person. Our spiritual selves. The person who is doing the thinking. The person that the chattering mind is silently talking to. The person that creates art and music and writing and does the thinking. It is the Self.

It's difficult to talk about because this inner self does not think in words, it is just there. There are many easy meditation techniques that can help us get in touch with the inner self simply by removing the chatter that distracts us. The chatter is simply a distraction the Self is always there.

Three Easy Meditation Techniques You Can Use Every Day

Here are 3 basic easy meditations techniques that you can use.All use a simple technique to quiet the chattering mind so that the inner self can be realized. In all, the more they are practiced the more being in touch with the inner self becomes a part of daily life. This is referred to as the path to enlightenment -- where the inner self is most fully realized as the essence of our experience.

    Transcendental Meditation (T.M.) as taught by the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. This is the meditation technique that became very widespread during the 1970s after the Beatles went to India and began investigating the spiritual traditions there.A personal mantra is given to each person by the teacher. This is silently repeated over and over in the mind throughout the meditation -- usually from 15 to 20 minutes.

    The Peaceful Abiding technique from Tibetan Buddhism, as taught by Sakyong Mipham. The mind is focused simply on breathing.

    The technique promoted by Dr. Wayne Dyer, uses vocalizing the word OM. Just spoken and elongated.



All of these techniques involve sitting quietly and being very relaxed an open to the technique and to the thoughts that accompany it, even though thoughts are being dissolved into pure consciousness of the inner self which does not involve words.
