What is Law of Attraction and How Can it Work For You?



So, what is Law of Attraction? As a former Law of Attraction Coach, I used to get this question often. The cosmic Law of Attraction is the Universal Principle that what we focus on will expand and return to us. Simply put, like attracts like.

There's a story of a man who moved to a new town that answers the question of what is law of attraction. The man asked a wise man who had lived there for many years what the people were like in the new town. The wise man replied with a question.

"What were the people like in the town where you last lived?" he asked.

"Oh, they were awful. They were rude and unfriendly," the man replied.

"That's exactly what the people are like here," the wise man said.

The very next day another man who was moving into town paid the wise man a visit. He asked him the same question:

"What are the people like in this town?"

The wise man returned to him the same question he had asked the previous newcomer.

"What were they like in the town where you last lived?

"Why, they were delightful," he said "Kind, generous and caring!"

"That's exactly what the people here are like!" the wise man said with a laugh.

I love this story because it's such a clear example of how we get back to us that which we are looking for. How could one person living in the same town amongst the same people have the exact opposite experience as another? Because the Cosmic Law of Attraction dictates that we attract to us that which is on the same level on which we are vibrating. If we are expecting people to be rude, we will hook up with rude people. If we expect people to be kind, then that is the prevalent attribute we will experience. It is up to us to determine what we want to experience and then tune our vibration to match it.

Our Favorite Law of Attraction Techniques

There are many Law of Attraction techniques that will enable you to begin the process of aligning with your intentions. Some of our favorites are:

  • Pray Rain Journaling Write a journal from the place you would like to be. Write as if what you want to experience has already happened, or better yet, is happening now! Instead of saying "I want an improved relationship with my spouse" say "I am so grateful that my relationship with my spouse is fulfilling. I appreciate him/her so much!" It's important to write in a way that evokes the feeling state of where you want to be! Include tastes, smells, sights and sounds. Make is a sensual experience!

  • Vision Boards Begin to collect clippings from magazines or make your own sketches of things that represent the way you would like your life to look. Grab a big piece of card stock and being to arrange the pieces in a way that is visually appealing to you. Place the vision board someplace prominent in your home where you will see it often. Each time you look at it imagine what you will feel like when your life has shifted into that place. Then, feel that way now!

  • Visualization Sit quietly and close your eyes. Visualize your life as you would like it to be. Don't look at yourself like you would if you were watching a movie. BE IN the movie! Feel all of your senses experience what it would be like in your imagination. Take in the sights, smells, sounds and tastes. Feel it as if it were happening now! Take this feeling around with you all day!
